1. Read the guidelines and be sure you understand them.

2. Did you provide the correct mailing address? Do notify us if it changes after you’ve submitted the application.

3. Answer all of the narrative questions and answer them in the order they are asked.

4. Assume the Foundation members don’t know you, your staff, your history or what you do.

5. Read the review criteria and address them in your narrative. If they don’t match, this might not be the right grant for you.

6. Back up your claims.

7. Show direct, active methods of marketing and outreach.

8. Take evaluation seriously and show active methods for evaluating your work.

9. Excellent support materials will gain you points.

10. Have someone else proofread the application before you send it.
